Idlewild, affectionately known by our ancestors as Black Eden beckons!

Black Eden has hosted the likes of Joe Louis, Jackie Wilson, Madame CJ Walker, WEB DuBois, Dr. Daniel Hale Williams and numerous other famous and influential Black celebrities, musical royalty and everyone in between.
​
Sadly, much as we have seen it happen in Detroit and many other Black communities across the country, disinterest, and divestment lead to disrepair and disrepair in Idlewild and gentrification has ensued.
The burgeoning population that is developing and occupying Idlewild isn't in line with the population that once thrived in Idlewild.

Black to Idlewild is hosting a getaway IN Idlewild leaving Detroit on Thursday, August 31, 2023 and returning Saturday, September 2, 2023 ahead of Labor Day.
